Building A Legacy
Beautiful communities for a more sustainable world.

The Building a Legacy network promotes an alternative to the traditional way of building new housing estates with focus on community and sustainability. With this film the King's Foundation wanted to show that ‘legacy development’ is achievable and profitable, benefiting both people and places. The film explains how the charity works with landowners to create new projects which are more environmentally, creatively, socially and economically progressive.

To create the film, the Morever crew spent several days in two of the developments: Poundbury in Dorset and Tournagrain near Inverness. The aim was to embed themselves in the community and show what it is genuinely like to live there. They recorded over 30 local residents sharing their thoughts, and captured many hours of footage of the distinctive architecture and community-centred spaces.

In the final edit, we included a rich mix of contributor testimonials and expert opinions. The footage speaks to the vibrant, diverse communities, craftsmanship, healthy ecosystems and well used green spaces. Drone shots help to locate the developments within their wider landscape and make visual reference to the work gone into  planning for these communities.

The film was premiered during the awards ceremony at the 2024 Building a Legacy event, and used on the King's Foundation's website and social channels since.
